Tio Carlos Mexican Latin Bar & Grill: A Flavorful Fiesta Awaits

Tio Carlos is hands-down one of the best Mexican spots in Irving. From the moment you sit down, you’re greeted with light, crispy chips and a flavorful hot sauce—but what really sets them apart is the complimentary bean dip. It’s unique, rich, and unlike anything I’ve had at another restaurant. Honestly, they could bottle it and sell it. Every dish here is a win. The shrimp cocktail is a standout—it’s so generous in portion that it could easily be a full meal by itself. Fresh, zesty, and packed with flavor. I’ve tried several different plates over time, and it’s the kind of place where you can order confidently knowing it’ll be good. From the classics to their house specialties, everything comes out hot, fresh, and seasoned just right. On top of the food, the atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the service is always on point. If you want consistently delicious Mexican food with a little something extra (don’t skip that bean dip!), Tio Carlos is a guaranteed hit.

I don't eat beans, but these beans make me want to come back just for those! We almost filled up on Salsa as we waited for our food...really good! If you're not ready for spice ..steer away from the jalapeño margarita...it will have you in a choke hold lol, but I will get it again.

This place is phenomenal! Walter is the best! I found this place when I was traveling for work 4 months ago and I’ve had great service here 3x per week ever since. If you want to feel like family and enjoy amazing food then come to Tio Carlos! Best Mexican restaurant in the DFW area.

Delicious...and a great experience! My friend and I started with drinks, a margarita on the rocks and a blue Hawaiian. They were made really well, though a tiny bit strong(but I'm not a real drinker). We ordered queso Blanco and added some of their homemade salsa rojo and it was delish!!! For the finale, I ordered the brisket tacos and she got the barbacoa street tacos. She loved her and my brisket was soooooo good!! Seasoned and tender, not too much fat and just scrumptious!! The service was fantastic. Paola was amazing, kind, attentive and very professional. She didn't miss a beat! We haven't been since the management and we're so glad we came.

Only place to eat latin food! It's SO GOOD! And not just your run of the mill texmex. We got the mango tilapia, Ropa Viejas, and some pupusas. All were FANTASTIC! Everything was just absolutely amazing. Great margaritas too! Okay back to eating! Had to stop and type this cause OMG!

Delicious Tex Mex in Irving! This place is hidden and easy to miss but once I discovered it I had to go back again with the family. The food is fresh and flavourful, loved the salsa and black beans dip with chips that they bring ,I had the brisket tacos and they were so so good, they come with rice, beans and salad with avocados. I highly recommend this dish. My son had The Mexican Dinner dish and enjoyed it. Server was friendly and responsive!

A little disappointed. Ordered the enchiladas with fried egg. The egg was poached and all I could taste was vinegar which would be how u make poached eggs but they used way to much vinegar. My son said his dinner was so great he went back the next day. I will go back and try something else.

I've loved Tio Carlos for over a decade. It's my favorite spot. I do miss the red taco shells though. Service is always great!! Ohhhhh the black bean dip, mmmmm mmmm good!!!
